Prepare your device
This is an easy way to install 420rom AOSP on your device. You’ll need an unlocked model of one of the supported devices:
Choose an install type
This installer can help you update from an older version of 420rom AOSP or switch to it from another OS, but you need to choose which one you want.
Connect your device
Put your device into bootloader mode by restarting it and holding the volume down button until you see a red warning sign or green Android robot.
Once your device is in bootloader mode, plug it into the computer or device you’re installing from. Make sure you use a high-quality USB cable, as many cables will cause issues. Avoid USB hubs if possible.
Your USB cable needs to be able to copy files. Charging-only cables won’t work.
Unlock your bootloader
In order to install custom software, you need to unlock your device’s bootloader.
If this is your first time or you haven’t already turned on OEM unlocking:
- Restart back to Android
- Go to Settings → “About phone” and scroll to the bottom
- Tap “Build number” repeatedly until developer options is unlocked
- Go to Settings → System → Advanced → “Developer options”
- Turn on “OEM unlocking”
- Restart back to the bootloader
Download a build
